Biography

Max de Brouwer is a seasoned finance executive and transformational CFO with over 25 years of experience leading finance, accounting, and operations across biotech, life sciences, fintech, digital media, and nonprofit sectors. Valued for his analytical rigor, operational fluency, and steady leadership, Max has guided organizations from early-stage startups to multi-billion-dollar enterprises through periods of growth, restructuring, and IPO readiness.

As an advisor with Everest, Max advises public and private companies on FP&A transformation, M&A strategy, cash flow modeling, ERP implementation, and board-level financial governance. His recent engagements include leading financial planning for biotech, gaming, and fintech companies, supporting investor communications, and building strategic runway models to support long-term scalability.

Most recently, Max served as Deputy CFO of the $1.5B Archdiocese of Los Angeles, where he modernized financial operations across 600+ entities, led external audits, restructured a 50+ person team, and implemented strategic planning systems that significantly improved oversight and accountability.

Earlier, Max held senior executive roles at Instil Bio (NASDAQ: TIL) and Grifols Inc., where he managed global finance during IPO, M&A, and high-growth phases. At Grifols, he helped scale revenue from $300M to $4.5B and integrated multi-billion-dollar acquisitions including Talecris and Novartis Diagnostics.

He began his career as an auditor with Ernst & Young and later held finance leadership roles at Blizzard/Vivendi, Intuit/Digital Insight, and CarsDirect, where he gained firsthand experience in SaaS, subscription revenue, digital advertising, and investor-backed e-commerce platforms.

Max earned an MBA from UCLA Anderson and a B.S. in Accounting from USC and is a CPA (inactive). A dual U.S./EU citizen fluent in French, Max serves on the boards of Habitat for Humanity Los Angeles and La Taza Corp, and is an active angel investor with Pasadena Angels.
